Back in the game?!

Don't get too excited, I'm not 100% back to drawing yet! I'm just testing the waters to see if I can get back in the flow. It would be accurate to say that I have not improved very much since the last time I drew anything, and it's been very tough to find the inspiration to work on anything thanks to video games, tv and movies.

That being said, one thing that for the time being has reignited my creative fire is the inclusion of the new female saiyans in Dragon Ball Super, Caulifla and Kale. I'm certainly not the first guy to fantasise about female super saiyans in the Dragon Ball universe, and there have been a lot of fan-made and unofficial female super saiyans but there were no actual female super saiyans in the main series......until now!

I don't wanna go into too much detail, but basically the new Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball Super has added multiple universes to the series. One of these universes (Universe 6) has saiyans on it that are similar to Goku, Vegeta and the rest of the saiyans still alive in their universe (Universe 7). The 3 main saiyans from Universe 6 are Cabba, a budding young hero who idolises Vegeta because he taught him how to turn super saiyan for the first time; Caulifla, the leader of a gang of deliquents with a cocky attitude who happens to be a fighting genius like Goku, and her student/best friend Kale, who on the surface is a shy and weak willed individual who just happens to be the spiritual successor to the most overpowered villain in Dragon Ball history: the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly.

I'm loving these girls so far, an I love the fact that they both have the ability to bulk up with huge muscles! This is unprecedented for a mainstream animated series, and I only hope it sets the stage for more muscle females to be shown in Dragon Ball and other series!

Anyway, I decided to dust off the old graphic tablet and do some rough sketches of both girls with the intention of doing high quality full colour art later on. I've posted some monochrome style versions here until I'm ready to go to the next step. If I'm happy with the results I might do some more characters in the future, time willing. Lets see if 2017 is my comeback tour!
